“Back in the days of the command line interface, users were all Morlocks who had to convert their thoughts into alphanumeric symbols and type them in, a grindingly tedious process that stripped away all ambiguity, laid bare all hidden assumptions, and cruelly punished laziness and imprecision.” - Neal Stephenson
Cathode is a terminal emulator, yes. And in that capacity, it works just fine. But it’s much, much more than that. Cathode is also a TIME MACHINE emulator. It provides a conduit back to the beginning of an era. An era when computers were a new, cultural enigma. If you were introduced to computers in the 80’s, Cathode will put a smile on your face for sure!
You can also, with some tweaking, recreate the feel and character of the computers and terminals which were integral to the sci-fi movie classics of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Remember when Mother woke up the crew of the Nostromo? How about Joshua (AKA the W.O.P.R) from WarGames? Weird Science, Cloak & Dagger, The Andromeda Strain, TRON…. the list goes on.
So ask yourself this: “Would you like to play a game?”
